This Privacy and Cookie Policy describes how I Travel By My Own (“ITBMO”), operated by Esteban Rojas Abarca from Costa Rica, collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the website, the Planner, ITBMO, Info Chat, and related features (the “Service”).
ITBMO can be used from different countries. The application of certain rules will depend on your location, the type of processing, and the applicable legal thresholds or requirements. Where mandatory law provides additional protections, this policy is intended to apply without limiting those mandatory rights.
Scope
ITBMO does not control the privacy practices of third parties you access from ITBMO. When you leave the site to book accommodation, tours, transport, eSIM, or other services, please review the policies of the relevant third party.

Legal bases where applicable
Depending on the jurisdiction and the processing, ITBMO may rely on contractual performance, consent, legitimate interests, legal compliance, or another permitted basis. Where consent is required, you may withdraw it prospectively, subject to applicable legal limitations.
ITBMO, Info Chat, and Artificial Intelligence
ITBMO uses artificial intelligence systems to interpret the context you provide, generate itineraries, and answer questions. Some content may be processed by technology providers that provide services to ITBMO.
AI outputs may vary between generations and may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. They do not constitute professional advice and are not a substitute for operators, authorities, emergency services, or official sources.
Confirm schedules, availability, prices, travel times, weather, routes, visas, health requirements, safety, and any critical information directly with current sources and official providers.
Cookies, local storage, and consent
ITBMO may use cookies, local storage, tags, pixels, identifiers and similar technologies for operation, security, preferences, analytics, advertising, and affiliate marketing.
In regions where the law requires prior consent for non-essential technologies, ITBMO will endeavor not to activate them until a valid choice is obtained.
When Google AdSense is enabled, ITBMO will implement a consent management platform compliant with Google's requirements and, where applicable, with the technical frameworks required for users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. The CMP will allow users to accept, decline, or manage available categories according to the applicable framework.
In jurisdictions where a technical privacy preference signal must be legally recognized, ITBMO will endeavor to respect it when the Service becomes subject to that obligation. This may include signals such as Global Privacy Control (GPC) where applicable.
Where applicable law requires notice at the point of collection, ITBMO will display or link to information about the categories of data collected, their purposes, and this Policy before or at the time of collection. [0111]
Advertising and Affiliate Links
ITBMO may fund part of the Service through Google AdSense and affiliate links. Where applicable, certain third parties may use cookies or equivalent technologies for measurement, attribution, or advertising purposes, subject to applicable consent options.
Intended partners may include KAYAK / Travelpayouts, Skyscanner, Booking.com, GetYourGuide, Viator, Omio, Airalo, and Holafly when their integrations have been approved and enabled. Services with no affiliation relationship may also be displayed.
Consult Advertising & Affiliates for full disclosure.
Payments via PayPal
ITBMO checkout is processed by PayPal. When you initiate a payment, PayPal may collect and process information necessary to authorize the transaction, prevent fraud, manage risk, comply with regulatory obligations, and provide its services.
ITBMO and PayPal may act as independent controllers with respect to the data that each chooses to process in connection with the payment. Processing carried out directly by PayPal is subject to PayPal's privacy policy and terms applicable to your region.
ITBMO does not intend to store the complete card or bank account details that you enter directly at the PayPal checkout. ITBMO may receive transaction information necessary to confirm the payment, reconcile it, provide support, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations.
International Providers and Transfers
ITBMO uses providers of infrastructure, hosting, databases, security, artificial intelligence, analytics, payments, advertising, and other functions. These providers may process information in different countries.
When an international transfer is regulated, ITBMO will endeavor to use recognized mechanisms, contractual safeguards, or other legally available measures where appropriate. Where required by law, additional information will also be provided regarding the applicable mechanism or how to obtain information about those safeguards.
Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain accounts and itineraries, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, comply with legal obligations, and protect rights. When it is no longer needed, we will endeavor to delete, anonymize, or aggregate it.
Downloadable itinerary files—PDF, CSV, and the payment receipt PDF—are generated for download and are not permanently stored as files at ITBMO. The user must save them on their device. We may retain the necessary structured data and metadata account, trip, generation progress, and transaction data to operate the Service, recover an interrupted generation, provide support, protect security, and comply with applicable legal obligations.
Security
ITBMO uses reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security.
You are responsible for protecting access to your devices and not sharing session data with unauthorized persons.
Your rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, data portability, objection, restriction of processing, withdrawal of consent, exclusion from certain processing, or appeal.
Costa Rica
ITBMO recognizes the applicable rights under Law No. 8968 on the Protection of Individuals with regard to the Processing of their Personal Data and its associated regulations.
EEA, United Kingdom, and similar jurisdictions
Where applicable, you may exercise the rights recognized by the applicable framework, including the possibility of filing a complaint with the competent authority.
United States
Where a state law is applicable to ITBMO, there may be rights of access, correction, deletion, portability, and opt-out of certain uses such as targeted advertising, sale, or sharing, as defined by law.
California
If ITBMO becomes subject to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended, California consumers may exercise applicable rights, including knowledge/access, correction, deletion, portability where applicable, and opt-out of sale or sharing of personal information, limitations on certain uses of sensitive personal information, and non-discrimination for exercising your rights.
Where legally required, ITBMO will recognize opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control (GPC) and offer appropriate privacy mechanisms. ITBMO does not claim that the CCPA applies simply because a California resident visits the Service; its application depends on applicable legal requirements and thresholds.
Where applicable, you may also file a complaint with the competent data protection or privacy authority in your jurisdiction.
ITBMO does not currently use ITBMO to make purely automated decisions that produce legal effects or comparable significantly adverse effects on the user. Should the Service incorporate such processing, applicable information and rights will be provided.
To exercise a right, write to privacy@itravelbymyown.com. We may request reasonable information to verify identity and authority. Where applicable legislation recognizes requests through technical signals such as GPC, ITBMO will handle them to the extent required by such legislation.
Minors
Accounts and purchases are intended for people with the legal capacity to accept the Terms. An adult may include limited information about minors traveling with them when it is necessary to personalize the itinerary and the adult has authority to do so.
If you believe ITBMO received information from a minor in a manner contrary to the law, write to privacy@itravelbymyown.com.
Changes
We may update this policy when the Service, providers, technologies, or legal requirements change. The update date will appear at the top. Where the law requires additional notice, we will provide it.
